Music Ministry

JACKSON-MICHAEL-alone-20The PBC Music Ministry seeks to bring glory to God by praising Him and thanking Him for who He is, by enriching our corporate worship, by teaching sound biblical doctrine through music, and by proclaiming the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We do that in our worship services through a mix of traditional and contemporary hymns and songs.

As an aspect of the ministry of the Word (Colossians 3:16 ), our music is intended to engage our minds—not just our emotions—and to prepare us for the preaching of God’s Word. We choose songs that are consistent with our statement of beliefs, are biblically sound, are God-focused, promote a high view of God, and promote passionate worship. We are to give God our very best in all things                 (1 Corinthians 10:31 ), and so we seek to carry out the PBC Music Ministry with excellence.

For those interested in being a part of the ministry of PBC-Orchestra-2worship, we have many opportunities for service. Our orchestra meets early every Sunday at 7am, and helps lead in our Sunday morning worship services, and at times in the Sunday evening service as well. Desiring to bring excellence to the ministry, this is an auditioned group, as there must be a certain level of proficiency on an instrument in order to play effectively. If you play an instrument, we would love to have you join us.

PBC-Choir-CU-2014Vocally, there are several avenues of service available. Our choir is open to anyone in 7th grade or older who loves to sing and use their gifts and talents in music. We rehearse every Sunday evening from 7:15-8:30, right after the evening worship service, as well as some additional rehearsals throughout the fall to prepare for our annual Christmas celebration. The choir helps to lead worship in the morning worship service and bring special music several times throughout the year. This is a wonderful opportunity for service and closer fellowship with other members of the choir. For those able and interested, we also have vocal and instrumental soloists and ensembles that provide special music on Sunday mornings. We also have praise teams who help lead worship on Sunday mornings and evenings when the choir is idle.

For those interested in the technical aspect of worship, we are always looking for people to help in sound, lyrics, and video. Each of these areas takes a real commitment and some technical training, but we certainly have room for you if this is your desire.

For children, we have children’s choirs that meet Childrens-Choir-CUSunday afternoons at 5:00. There is a choir for those 4 years old up to 6th grade. These children will sing two to three times each semester, including singing in our Christmas celebration. All children are invited to sing in these groups, and we always have room for adults who would desire to work with these wonderful children.
